Axel Void created an amazing installation together with Velvet and Zoer CSX. The urban artist painted a billboard of 9 x 5 metres for Transfertco. The Nantes space became an incredible open-air exhibition in the Summer of 2018, full of paintings, installations and curiosities.
This curious piece presents a burnig car, but there is a lot of meaning behind the flames! Its title, Bread and Circus, is a reference taken from the Roman poet Juvenal.
The term was used to discuss the shift of public attention away from political discourse through amusing distraction and celebration. Axel calls attention to “how the concept of revolt itself has become institutionalised to such a point that the act of rioting has become a variation of Bread and Circus;only  permitted in designated locations in an attempt to appease and manipulate the masses.”
The installation is part of a satirical series focusing critical sociological issues. Through a version of ‘honest politics’ the project suggests lifting the veil to show plainly and without subversion, the intent and the consequences of the problems plaguing our time
